Safety Tips
Safety Tips
Stay Seen. Stay Safe.
At ORBIS®, our mission is simple: help people stay visible, confident, and protected wherever they go. Whether you’re on the job site, out for a night run, cycling at dusk, or walking the dog after dark, small safety habits can make a big difference.
Top Visibility & Safety Tips
🔶 1. Always wear reflective gear
Visibility drops drastically in low light. Even a single reflective band or belt can help drivers see you from over 500 m (1,600 ft) away. For maximum effect, wear reflective gear on both your upper and lower body so you’re visible from all angles.

🔴 2. Light up your path
Reflective materials work when light hits them. Safety lights make you stand out even more by actively emitting light, improving how early drivers and other road users can see you.
Clip a light to your belt, jacket, backpack, helmet band, or dog harness to stay visible from every direction.

🟡 3. Choose bright, contrasting colours
Hi-vis fluorescent yellow/green and orange are proven to stand out in:
- Daylight
- Twilight and dawn
- Fog, rain, and overcast conditions
- Nighttime under headlights
Whenever possible, choose outer layers and safety gear in high-visibility colours, backed up by reflective strips and active lighting.
👁️ 4. Move with awareness
Visibility is not only what you wear, but how you move.
- Walk or run facing traffic when possible.
- Make eye contact with drivers before crossing the road.
- Avoid sudden changes in direction near vehicles.
- Keep volume at a level where you can still hear traffic and surroundings.
🧼 5. Keep your gear in good shape
Reflective and elastic materials wear out over time. Check your gear regularly and replace items that show:
- Cracked, peeling, or dull reflective tape
- Stretched-out elastic that no longer fits securely
- Heavy dirt or staining that doesn’t wash off
A clean, bright reflective surface is far more effective than a worn or dirty one.
🐾 6. Protect your pets
Your dog needs visibility just as much as you do, especially near roads, driveways, and shared paths. Attach a reflective band or safety light to their neck or harness during early-morning and evening walks.
